What do I need to bring with me?
Proof of insurance, a photo ID, custody/ guardianship documentation (if applicable), and previous mental health history paperwork.
Can I come to Same Day Access if I am current Siouxland Mental Health client?
No. Same Day Access is not for current Siouxland Mental Health clients receiving therapy services. Current client appointments will go on as scheduled. Same Day Access is for an initial counseling evaluation for new clients or for previous Siouxland Mental Health clients who have not seen a therapist for one year or more.
Will I be able to get medication at this initial evaluation?
No, you will not see a prescriber for the medication in this initial visit. You will meet with a therapist to complete an initial assessment and make recommendations for treatment.
I came to Same Day Access, but it was too crowded for me to see a therapist in the allotted time. Now what?
We have several designated staff available during Same Day Access times and have back-up staff if a high volume of persons. We will do our best to accommodate as many persons as possible during Same Day Access times. If you are not able to be seen during the designated evaluation times that day due to the unavailability of clinicians, the front desk will work with you to ensure an evaluation happens as quickly as possible.
How long does the Same Day Access process take?
The intake and evaluation process takes 1.5 hours to complete. We try to get everyone in with a therapist as quickly as possible, yet there may be times when you may have to wait for a period of time prior to seeing anyone. We ask that you come expecting to spend an average of 2.5 hours – sometimes it takes less time and sometimes more depending on how many persons call in to be seen that day.
