Art Therapy

Helping children explore emotions through creativity.

What Is Art Therapy?

Art therapy is a form of mental health support that uses the creative process to help children express their thoughts and emotions. When words are hard to find, art becomes the language for healing.

Age Range: Typically ages 5-17; Common issues: Anxiety, Trauma, ADHD, Self-esteem challenges, Grief and loss, Behavioral and emotional regulation

Why Art Therapy Works

Creativity opens a door to healing.

  • Explore emotions without pressure to verbalize

  • Process trauma in a safe environment

  • Improve self-awareness

  • Learn coping skills

  • Build resilience and reduce stress

What to Expect

During a session, children may engage in activities that help them work through emotions and build skills:

  • Drawing and painting feelings

  • Creating masks or collages

  • Working with clay or mixed media

  • Journaling with visual storytelling

  • Guided therapeutic prompts

Sessions are child-centered and paced to meet individual needs. No artistic skill is required, just a willingness to explore.
